Founded in 2006 by Jack Dorsey and others, it enables users to send out public messages, known as “tweets,” with a limit of 140 characters, except for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, which have a 280-character limit. Described as the “SMS of the Internet,” Twitter-X has a monetizable daily active user base of 187 million as of Q3 2020.
